We want to share how we keep and rear baby crested geckos. One thing you should remember is, DO NOT give a big enclosure to baby crested geckos. Half size shoe box container is good enough for hatchling cresties. Seems like if we provide bigger enclosure to babies, they don't eat much and grow to proper speed and size. We keep our hatchling geckos in a small enclosure until they reach up to around 5 grams. Please keep one baby in a small container and keep the container clean all the time. Also, we need to pay attention to humidity levels. Generally, it is better to keep babies in high humidity levels than adult cresties. Because babies can easily get dehydrated. Once they get dehydrated, it is really hard to get the baby back to health. We are using contact lens cases as food and water dishes for baby geckos. (It's actually the best size for them and not pricy like other gecko food dishes) Kitchen towel is a good cage liner for baby geckos to keep humidity at the right level. Like you see in the photo, we only mist water lightly around the food dish area. Please keep egg crates or wood bark as dry as possible. We are cleaning the baby cage every other day. wash the whole container under hot water. Also, feed geckos every other day as well. DO NOT GIVE TOO MUCH FOOD to your babies. they can't finish the food anyway. Also, if a baby gets food on their body or feet and leaves them as it can give a fatal condition. So, again please don't give too much food. Feeding small amounts often is a lot better!! You can feed 1/2" size crickets one or two times a week to enhance their growth rate. Of course, please dust calcium + vitamin D3 on the crickets or small Dubia roaches. Feeding live insects is not necessary, but it will definitely improve your gecko to grow faster and healthier. We feed live insects for that reason. AND YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM LOVE! Happy rearing and breeding cute little geckos!

We got some Cappuccino and Frappuccino crested geckos at insect brothers exotic. We need to set up a plan to produce high quality animals from these crested geckos.. Here is our plan for this year 2024 We have a total of 3 male Cappuccinos, 6 female Cappuccinos, and 2 female Frappuccinos. We decided to produce some Super Cappuccinos this year. So, three different blood lines of Cappuccino groups will be paired this year  We will use 2 Cappuccino males and 3 female Cappuccinos for this purpose. Here is the expected number  based on genetic calculation and minimum expectation of egg count. We are expecting a minimum of at least 12 eggs from each female. Based on that result we will get around 36 eggs from 3 females CAPPUCCINO X CAPPUCCINO  • 25% : Super Cappuccino • 50% : Cappuccino • 25% : Normal By this genetic calculation, Here is the expected number of results. We know this percentage is per each egg but we can still guess our result based on this calculation. If we are lucky enough we will get 9 super cappuccino, 18 cappuccino, and 9 normal geckos.  Next plan is to produce more Frappuccinos. Remaining 3 females will be with a high cover Lilly White male group. CAPPUCCINO + LILLY WHITE • 25% : Frappuccino • 25% : Cappuccino • 25% : Lilly White • 25% : Normal Same method of calculation, we are expecting to get 9 Frappuccino, 9 cappuccino, 9 lilly white, and 9 normal geckos. We are saving two frappuccino females for a while and we will pair them to the Axanthic male group by the end of this year 2024, We are basically planning on making 100% het axanthic crested gecko from this frappuccino pairing.  So here is the prediction FRAPPUCCINO X AXANTHIC • 25% : Frappuccino 100% het Axanthic • 25% : Cappuccino 100% het Axanthic • 25% : Lilly White 100% het Axanthic • 25% : Normal 100% het Axanthic Based on the calculation, we will get 6 of each trait. Final goal of this process is to produce Super Cappuccino Axanthic. The Axanthic gene is deleting yellow and red pigments of the color and super cappuccino is a reddish dark translucent color. Therefore, our expected look of super cappuccino Axanthic is something like deep blue black translucent color. However, we never know what this trait will look like.  Prediction of final result of this Cappuccino project 2024 is following CAPPUCCINO & FRAPPUCCINO PLAN 2024 Super Cappuccino : 9 Cappuccino : 27 Frappuccino : 9 Cappuccino 100% het AX : 6  Frappuccino 100% het AX : 6 Lilly White 100% het AX : 6 Normal 100% het AX : 6 Lilly White :  9 Normal : 18 Total baby gecko : 96 Again, This result is just a prediction by genetic calculation. Result will be a little bit different.

We got questions about chocho a lot from our customers because some of our members are korean. We contacted the person who found and developed chocho morph at Korea and get following information. Following information is from his blog page and we translated from korean to english Instagram page of chocho morph founder : https://www.instagram.com/sunjukill/?hl=en Recessive Morph ChoCho : CC I’m the founder (sunjuviewonder) of the morph, the CC, and there are still a lot to discover as there aren’t that many samples yet.   When I first hatched the very first CC, I could immediately tell it is a new morph that has never been known before. The morphology and coloration were completely different from the other clutchmates. I know its parents, their parents, their parents, and their parents as well, but not any further up (no above than CC’s great-great-grandparents. None of the generations ever expressed red coloration on them. CC’s redness seems to only appear per the new morph. The characters of CC seem to be presented as far as the other morph is not the dominant no matter what you mix with, like lilly or axanthic. Left side gecko is ChoCho and right side is clutch mate of ChoCho. Fire Down Fire Up Normal Characteristics of the CC There are three different coloration steps throughout the development of the CC. The base and second step shows redness, and then pink in the third. Once the color fades out, color becomes gray laterally, and red becomes more of eye-catching pink dorsally. Proves to the New Morph? This particular morph has its own class of character in coloration and patterns, and the inordinate uniqueness among the clutchmates. It is not a mutation as I have a total of seven geckos with constant characters so far. Considering all the newly hatched visual CCs as the F2 generation, The offspring within the F2 visual CCs all came out as the visual CCs. Mix between either one of normal, lilly, axanthic and CCs produced no CCs. Also, I recently discovered CC offspring from the lilly white 50% het CC and CC. It has a complete condition to be considered as a recessive gene. It is proven that CC is the new morph.   Stability of the Morph and Its Genetic Defects It is very vulnerable to in-breeding. While studying the stability, I found the problem from the copulation of F2 visual CCs. A lot of embryos died while developing in the egg. Among the 14 eggs, 10 died in development, and four hatched, one couldn’t survive a month. The CC is definitely a recessive morph, and if so, it is obviously vulnerable to in-breeding. Those three successfully survived F3 visual CCs had no morphological problems, but either they are infertile or anovulate, like the problems often found in axanthics. In my experience, copulation attempts between F1 Parent x F2 offspring or F2 x F2 can result very badly, however, F2 CC with normal or lilly had no problem with 100% success rate of hatching of very healthy geckos.
